Problem with Rad 9200

Jamie

I just put a system together, specs as follow:

Athlon XP 2500+
Asus A7V8X-X
Samsung PC2700 512
WD800JB
EVGA GeForce4 MX440 128 8xAGP
DirectX 9.0b
Lastest Hyperions
Latest BIOS

Win XP Pro installed fine as well as all applications. Thought I would
give it a whirl with Ghost Recon and as soon as I started playing it,
the application would end and kick me right out to the desktop. Did
this over and over. I then tried one of the demo's that was on the
nvidia CD(toy soldiers) this again kicked me right out to the desktop,
and sometimes rebooted the machine right away.

Through some research I decided that I must have had a bad graphics
card. So I got a new Radeon 9200, uninstalled all old NVidia stuff,
and put the new card in. The result: still kicks me back out to
desktop. The toy soldiers demo doesn't work correctly with the ATI
card so I am using ghost recon like originally. So far it hasn't reset
the machine though.
Have had the newest drivers for both cards as well as new 4in1's and
newest BIOS for this motherboard.
No IRQ conflicts, and I'm running it with no other cards in.
memtest86 comes back with no errors.
Temperatures are fine, CPU is 105-107 at idle.
This problem only occurs when running 3D applications - surfs internet
all day with no trouble.

Any Ideas?

Thanks
Jamie

Experiment with all BIOS settings. Sometimes you just get a motherboard that
does this. Could be power supply too. Keep replacing parts until fixed. See
http://rage3d.com forums for more advice.
