Problem with new Antispyware Definitions 5735

D

Dallas Dees

I don't know if this problem is with the 2 computers in my
house or not, but Microsoft Antispyware Beta downloads the
new definition 5735, installs it, and displays that it was
done successfully. However, when checking for updates
again, it says that it needs to upgrade to the new
definition 5735. It does this on both computers in my
house, so I haven't completely ruled out a virus/malware
running about, but it does look quite a bit like a
software problem.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Your fix is on the way.

The new version 1.0.615 is available for download.

I have exactly the same problem, so it's not something
unique to your system. I have no idea what to do about
it. The problem was not present in the earlier beta of
the Microsoft Antispyware. Let's see if anyone has any
suggestions for a fix. Deleting and re-installing the
software didn't help.

Version 615 is out.
Look in group:
microsoft.private.security.spyware.announcements

Autoupdate worked for me.

Microsoft refreshed Antispyware to build 615 earlier today.
This build is supposed to resolve the definitions update issue.
The new download is slightly smaller than earlier releases at
around 6.54 Megabytes.

I am as well. I even uninstalled the product and
downloaded a fresh copy and 5735 won't stay updated.

Sounds like a beta bug.

Empty your Temporary Internet Files, including the option for delete
offline-content.
Download a fresh copy of the Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta 1 installer by
following the download links from http://www.microsoft.com/spyware/
Right click the downloaded installer binary, select Properties, click
Digital Signature.
Check that the date of the Digital Signature is 13 July 2005 18:44:35 GMT -
the displayed time will be adjusted for your timezone.
Now run this version of the installer (Build 615).
It comes with definitions 5735.
