problem with monitor / video card

hello all,

I've got a problem with my pc, well it booted up normally, when it
entered Windows, i saw that there was a problem with the size of the
screen. I tried to resize it with the monitor options and the screen
went black.

I restarted the machine and it booted up normally but without display.
All the beep sounds were normal as if the pc was normal but there was
no display. now i don't know if the problem is with the monitor or the
video card.

I tried removing the card and plugging it back, still no display.

I shut down the pc and turned on the monitor only, there was the msg
"no signal, check your cable" and when i turned on the pc, the msg
disappeared as if the pc was ok, but still no display.

Does anyone know what is the problem? i am suspecting the video card
but need to check out.

Thx

At a guess, the graphics adapter is set to a frequency/resolution
combination that your monitor does not support.

Restart in safe mode (press the F8 key). Set the graphics settings (Display
control panel) to something safe, like 800X600 at 60 Hz.

Restart in regular Windows. Check whether your monitor is recognized
correctly. If it is, the display control panel should only offer supported
resolutions (unless you manually override that).

HTH.

Address scrambled. Replace nkbob with bobkn.
