Problem with Disk Clean up Win 2k Pro

I have been trying to cleanup the Windows 2k Pro. drive
and find that it runs forever, if I permit it to. It ran
last night 14 hours and the progress meter showed 4 blocks
at both start and cancel. I have manualy removed
cleanmgr.exe from System/32 and reinstalled it via
sfc /scannow to no effect. When I cancel the disk clean
utility the useage stays at 100 percent until I end task
via the process mgr. My win 2k version level is 5.00.2195
Service pack 4. Thanks

I followed the instructions in KB 812248 and have manualy
deleted files gotten via the use of RUN command %temp%.
Disk Clean now runs further. It runs through Office Temp
files and the Recycle bin and partialy thru Temp files
when it quits with a message that an error has occurred
and a error log is being written (sic) What do you
suggest that I do now? Thanks for the prompt response to
my question before.

Bob: Thanks a lot. I am now able to run Clean Disk thru
to completion. I manualy deleted a bunch of .tmp files
displayed thru Search *.tmp. Some of them were corrupted.
I then did a Repair using the Win2k disk and followed this
with the removal of CacheValues from the registry.
SUCCESS! it now runs. Thanks a lot for your help and
patience. Ed Allen
