Problem with changing computer to 256 color mode

Well I do have a frusterating problem indeed. I am an avid computer game
player and recently purchased an older game that needs to be played in a 256
colors mode. Well having a newer computer I only have the option of switching
to a high (32), or medium color (16) configuration. Well naturally I snooped
around and found what I was looking for, the exact instructions as to how I
could accomplish my color needs. They are as follows, right click the start
menu, click properties, select the compatibility tab, and click the box that
will temporarily change my settings to the 256 color mode. Easy right? Well I
had hoped so, but you can imagine my suprise when I found out that my
computer does not have a compatibility tab! I tried every location it listed
to get to that tab, but had no such luck, I can only get to two tabs (none of
which is the prized compatibility tab.) And I was wondering if anyone could
help me out? Because I fear that I may not be able to play my new game at
all. Im just hoping that this blasted computer isnt to high tech for the
classic older games that we have all come to know and love. Please and
Thankyou for your insight.! <3

You might try this:

Right-click on your desktop and select:

Properties > Settings > Advanced > Adapter > List All Modes

Lots of good info in this group. Also keep in mind that there are two
"Compatibility" utilities. "Compatibility tab" applies to programs
installed on the HD - The "Program capaitinily" wizard for application to a
programs set up file on the source disk/CD.
