Problem with adding sounds to animation

Miss Keefer

My class is making a digital storybook in PowerPoint. (This is the first
time I've done this project.) We are trying to add sounds to the animation
in the middle of the sequence. We want the sound and animation to run at the
same time. On some slides, it's working; on others (in the same
presentation), it won't work. It holds up the animation until the sound is
finished. We have looked and looked, but we can't find a difference in the
two. Why is it doing this? How can we fix it? Please help! We need to
finish this project, so that we can send it to the Primary students.

It's 2003, and, yes, there are animations in the sequence that are play after
previous. They have to be there, because they are the visual part of the
show. Thank you for your help, and any more suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Miss Keefer

You will need to change those animations to 'with previous' and add a delay
to the start (I would do this to a copy of your slide so you have the
original one to refer to). Add a delay by clicking on the drop down arrow
next the animation -> timing -> add the number of seconds in the 'delay'
box. Alternatively, use the advanced timeline and drag the animations
around - to turn on the advanced timeline click on the drop down next to the
animation -> show advanced timeline.

I've done a wee video for you about using the advanced timeline to create
the delays: http://screencast.com/t/FI2snaBhFv
