Problem trying to insert rows in worksheet; error message: Too many different cell formats

When I've tried to insert a single row in an existing worksheet, I get an error message that states "Too many different cell formats" and will not insert the new row

If I try to insert several rows at once, I again get the same error message about too many different cell formats, but when I click ok, the existing rows I've highlighted for entering additional rows, all disappear, including the data. I have to then exit the file without saving because of fear of losing the data that has disappeared

Then I usually get a Microsoft Excel system message that has to close down the operation. I always send in the reports to Microsoft (does anyone at Microsoft actually read those things?).

This is a major file that I have to work in almost daily, and it has alot of formatting and links to other files. Does anyone have any suggestions

Usually the #value error appears when an incorrect operand
or an invaled function is used. Look up #value in the help
menu for possible reasons and solutions.

Forgot to mention to look under Tools/Options and
Transition.
