Problem starting XP

Russell

Hi,

After a power cut, tried to restart the computer, and a
black screen is displayed saying that Windows failed to
start successfully. It displays various options such as
Safe Mode and Start Windows Normally (it mentions that if
a power failure occured to choose Start Windows Normally)

I have tried all available options, but no matter what I
choose, XP will not start. Instead, it displays a blue
screen, saying that "A problem has been detected and
Windows has shut down to prevent damage to the computer"
then it says :

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

Are there any solutions to this problem? Any help would be
appreciated.... Thanks!

It sounds as if your hard drive has gone. A similar
experience happened on my friends computer and he had to
replace his hard drive.

tells me that it couldnt check the dsk, so let me know if you get it
to work
