Problem Sharing Files on Domain

Hi there,

I recently set up a Server for an office running Win 2k3 Server Standard and
we set it up as a domain controller. Prior to this the office had been
sharing files in a workgroup. I have successfully had them join the domain
and the shared files that were on each PC while it was in a workgroup are
still accessible when on the domain. Great, right? Well, sort of. Here is
the issue: Everyone can access these share to a point. And what I mean by
this is they can access it for at least a few hours, and then all of a sudden
when you try and access the folder that was previously available on the
workgroup setup it will ask for a username and password, which it hadn't done
before. And that goes for any PC youtry and access including the domain
controller server. It seems like the network connections are timing out, is
that accurate? And if so, how do I get it where they aren't timeing out and
having to enter in a user name and password every so often? If I am off base
as to what is going on here, let me know. Thanks.

1. Make sure all the data has been moved to the server (not shared from the
workstations) and is in folders set with appropriate share & NTFS
permissions
2. Make sure all workstations & the server point only at the server's LAN IP
for DNS - no public DNS servers. Using forwarders and/or root hints in the
internal/AD-integrated DNS server is how your workstations will get external
name resolution.

Also, if the data are still on the old pc, you can leave them there as long
as you join that pc as well in the domain, and assign the proper
permissions.

Check that you don't have any hardware issues with your network. i.e bad
cables, NICs, on the server to isolate the case that clients lose
communication with the server.

Advice: Set up a secondary domain controller, apply all SPs
