Problem saving Word 2000 labels

I have used the Label Tool -> New Document to create labels. Then I use Save
As to save them as a .doc file. When I open them to use them again, the
table is gone, the label text appears followed by many lines of document
data such as: (I deleted all instances of the user's name)

Any ideas as to what the problem is?

In Word's File Open dialog, change the "Files of type" setting from "Recover
Text from Any File" to "All Word Documents."
