problem saving power point files

I installed MSOffice Home and Student 2007 last night on an HP computer with
WinXP. I also have MSOffice Professional 2003 installed on the same
computer. When I save a presentation made with the 2007 ver, an "X" is
always added to the file ext. example -----.pptx or -----.ppsx. The files
will open and play on my computer but not on any other.

In addition when I try to run the presentations in the 2003 ver or on
another computer I get this message....no text converter installed for this
type of file.

The more I play with 2007 the more I find I do not know. 2007 files are
humongous. A presentation with 4 same pix inserted is over 4000kb. Can
this be compressed or something?

2007 files are usually smaller.

You might want to check the picture compression settings which are auto
applied on saving usually

select a picture
Picture Tools tab >Compress Pictures
Choose Options and check that auto compress to 96 dpi is on.
