Problem running command-line program

Mike

I just downloaded a program that runs in MS-DOS. The function of the program
is to list ADS files. When I click on the .exe it starts but the command
window only stays open briefly maybe 1 second and then closes. I tried
running this program in all different compatibility modes but it has the
same behavior. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The way to run programs like this is to open up a "command prompt" box.
and then while in that open window, execute the program. You find
this on the menu's under the Start/All Programs/Acessories.

This is required becuase these sort of programs don't contain any code
to manage the windows.

Since you mentioned you downloaded this program, hopefully you trust the
source of this program and have checked it for viruses. A virus is
*not* the cause of your problem, but I thought I would reinforce the
need to check downloaded programs.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Open help & support | type "DOS" | read. True DOS does not exist in XP.

Run it from the command prompt.
