XP Pro (all MS uppdates installed, latest BIOS installed)
I have the following units installed on my system:
FDD
HD1
HD2: Disabled
DVD-rom
CD-burner
When I try to access my DVD-rom, FDD or USB-memory I only
get a message (in swedish) like: Unit not available. I
can se all units with explorer but not read them. XP
reports that all units are working properly. This problem
started a few weeks ago. If I restart the computer with a
CD in place I can read that specific CD but not replace
it. Yesterday I reinstalled XP but that did´t help. Any
ideas of what to do to resolve this problem?

Hi Björn

I cannot help you with this - all i can say is that I have the exact same
problem. And it is driving me crazy!
My DVD drive is a Samsung sd-616Q, and the cd-rw is an LG. I suspect the
Samsung of being the root of the problem, but do not know for sure.
If you ever found a solution, please let me know too.. I'm getting desperate!

Best regards,

Do you have either Easy CD Creator or Nero Burning on your PC. If so, remove
it/them and see if that fixes the problem. Some versions of these programs are
known to cause the exact symptoms you describe. If you don't have those, but do
have some other CD-Writing software, remove that to see if it solves the
problem.

If that is the cause, you will need to obtain an update to your software (may be
free on the manufacturer's website).

Good luck!
