Problem opening site with FP2003

When I try to open a site with FP2003/file/open site I get the mesage as
follows
"URL" C:/" is not contained within a Windows Sharepoint Service site"
So thatI can only open a non recent site by My Computer/double click icon.
Any ideas please

You need to be opening the site via http, if you are getting that error message.

Hi Tom,
Many thanks for your very prompt response.
I do not get as far as selecting a site, this occurs when I select "C":
drive and click "Open" in the dialog box .

It works if I use the drop down box at the top and do not select "My
Computer"
