Problem: OLE with AVI files.

Hi Folks

I'm using PPT2003 to create a training program which contains a few AVI movies. The show plays fine when I test it using the full application. The problem is when I "Package for CD" for distribution, the PPT2003 Viewer will not play the movies. It appears that the PPT Viewer doesn't support linked, or embedded objects.

I've tried inserting them which works okay, but I'm unable to return control to the parent slide after the movie finishes. It's probably some dumb thing on my part but I would greatly appreciate any ideas or suggestions

It's not clear how you have included the movies. If you are using an
ActiveX Control, the Viewer does not support them. Can you elaborate?

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello Neil,

PowerPoint Viewer 2003 does not support the opening of OLE (embedded or
linked) objects. You would have to insert your movies using the Insert ->
Movies and Sounds commands in order to have them play from within the
viewer.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it's important that
PowerPoint Viewer provide this kind of functionality, don't forget to send
your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)
