Problem log in to XP Home Edition

H

Howard

Friend of mine got a Dell machine with Windows XP Home
Edition installed.

Last week he tried to boot up his machine, he got the
error message of

"The system cannot log you on because the domain XYZ is
not available".

I tried the MS support page and found one related to
Encryption but did not applied to XP.

us;244671

I tried the suggested methods with no success.

Please help!!!

Boot into safe mode.
Log in as administrator.
Run regedit.
Hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows nt\current version\winlogon

Ensure that the two values:
DefaultDomain and AltDefaultDomain have values equal to the Computer Name.

Hope this helps.

I've tried Safe mode but I still can't log in as
administrator. Still complain with the same message.
