Problem installing licensed tools over eval version.

How do I install the licenced tools over the eval versions?

I had the eval tools and database installed, SP2. We used them to
develop an XPe image. Satisfied with what we had, we bought the
licensed XPe tools and some XPe runtime licenses.

The eval version of the tools appears to suppress the section for
entering a PID into the runtime image, so I figure I have to install
the licensed version. I don't want to uninstall the database because
it's got all my custom components in it.

I tried uninstalling the XPe tools and re-installing from the licensed
CDs, up to SP2. When prompted, I entered the CD-KEY that came with the
licensed CDs.

The TD About box still says "Evaluation" and there's still no place to
enter the PID.

And the bigger question is: why is EVERYTHING in XPe like this? Not
one G*d d**m thing is straightforward.

Hi S.K

Only way to do that was to uninstall both tools and database.
Then install ones from new CDs you got. After which you need to get yourself to latest QFE's that you have used and custom
components :-(

This is the only way I know and it was only valid way when I did it long time ago.

Thanks Slobodan. I can't say I'm happy to hear that, but it gets me
going in the right direction.

I am in the same situation. It's a real bummer that all the work I have done
with the evaluation tool CANNOT be restored to the licensed tool :----(

I wish microsoft can resolve this issue soon.
