Problem in Start--> Search

I've obviously done something - who knows what - with settings in Search. It
used to be that a Search would look in all the sub-folders and files below
the level that I specified. Now it will only look at the folder names (but
not within the folders or subfolders below) at the specified level, so a
search using 'All files and folders' mostly brings up: 'Search is complete.
No results.'
I'm using XP Home 2002.
Any advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated, as I now can't
find files in my very hierarchical folder structure, using Search.
Thanks
Paddy

My standard advice on problems with XP's Search is to forget it and use
Agent Ransack (http://www.mythicsoft.com/agentransack/) instead - it's far
superior.

For your actual problem, it sounds like you need to click on Advanced
Options > Search Subfolders. Beyond that, see the above paragraph...

Thanks for both suggestions. I knew that the solution had to be something
simple, but I couldn't work out what had changed. I'll definitely have a
look at your suggested software. Thanks again.
