Problem importing in outlook 2003

The following error pops up: "A file error has occured in the Comma Separated
Value (DOS) translator while intializing a translator to build a field map"
when trying to import (after installing translator). I uninstalled and
re-installed Office as well as the translator but this error message keeps
appearing. Please help

I'm not sure if this will work, but I would try changing the file you're
trying to import into a different type of format.

Maybe import into excel. Export again. And try to import into Outlook again.

Try using the CSV (Windows) format.

I am trying to import a customer list from excel into outlook and when I tell
outlook that it is coming from an excel file it says it cannot start required
translator. Then it asks if I want to install it, when I say yes it doesn't
prompt to do anything else.
