Problem Detecting RAM

I am running XP Pro on a Gigabyte 8INXP motherboard with
Intel 3.06GHz processor. Hyperthreading is enabled and
active. I have installed 4GB of DDR ECC RAM (chipset
supports ECC). The problem is that I am fairly new at
this so I do not know if there really is a problem or
not. Here is the situation:

When I click on system information, Windows is reporting
only 3GB of RAM installed. When I initially started the
system it reported 3.5GB. SiSoft SANDRA 2002 looks like
it is only seeing 2.048GB of installed RAM. If I am
reading the report correctly.

There are no problems with boot-up. I am getting no error
messages. Device manager (if I am reading it right) is
not showing any problems with any devices.

HELP! Where do I click to determine if the system is
actually seeing all the RAM or not - or if there is a
problem with some of it that is not allowing all of it to
be seen.

If you have 4 GB of RAM you need an extra switch in a line in the
C:\boot.ini file. Edit this at Control Panel - System - Advanced, click
the 'Settings' at the bottom in Start up and Error recovery, then click
Edit. After the /fastdetect on the last line add a space and then /3GB
