Problem Deploying Policy to User

Dear All,

I've finally got my head around User Policies (after a many a website, many
a news group, and bam the penny dropped) but I'm having difficulty getting
it to deploy to the user.

I've done a few basic things to see if it works, like changing the IE title
bar, just the athletics' so I can see the change, but it doesn't deploy..

Now I'm on the hunt to find out why, and what can I check?

I've looked through a few posts in this news groups, and something mentions
about "Linking"? means nothing to me? I ran gpresult and it did show that
nothing had been applied...

I'm wondering if the account it pulling the details from a cache on the
local machine? I've installed the Hive Clean up. Or am I doing something
wrong on my Server, do I need to restart the server or AD or something?

Can someone point me in the right direction please....

Regards
Paul.

.... you ar not "adressing" the right object. Your Object is not in the
scope of the GPO.

- create an OU
- move the user to this OU
- create a GPO with the GPMC and all your settings
- link (drag+drop) this GPO to the OU
- wait 2-3 minutes, re-login as the user

Done all that, and nope still didn't work. You think it could be to do with
the security settings on the Machine, User, DC or GPO?

Hi,
Done all that, and nope still didn't work. You think it could be to do with
the security settings on the Machine, User, DC or GPO?

Simple test:
- take the configuratoin as mentioned in my first posting
- edit the GPO and disable all Desktopicons
Userconfig\adm templ\Desktop
"Hide and disable all DesktopIcons"

restart, login if they disappear, there is no problem in filtering
and the functionality is pretty obvious ;-)
