Pro Engineer Express available?

Bob Adkins

I have seen in Bob's Best Freeware
(http://webpages.charter.net/bobad/best.htm), the Pro Engineer Express
(CAD 3D category) (http://cad.msvl.k12.wa.us/IntelliCAD.htm).
Unfortunately it doesn't exist any more as freeware.
If I remember well they stopped distributing the free edition end of 2003.
Of course I tried to download it 3 days later (Murphy's Law is always
right!)
Somebody knows another place where I can still find this prog?
Horst

AK! Thanks for the heads up Horst! I'll update my site. <blushing>

Here's a direct link I found Horst. I hope it's the right program. I'm 95%
sure it is.

Your talking about ProDesktop Express and PTC has stopped providing
that free of charge. Even if you could find a copy of it, it wouldn't
do you any good, because it has to be validated by PTC, and they
aren't doing that anymore. They had a program whereby existing users
could transition their 180 day licenses to 2 year licenses, but that
ceased with the termination of the program.

You had to realize that PTC wouldn't allow that gravy train to go on
forever.

Sorry, there aren't many free alternatives out there either.

As others have indicated, it's no longer available. And getting an old copy
is no good because it has to be activated by PTC (license codes) which must
be renewed every six months. PTC is not doing so anymore.

As an alternate, consider the student edition of Pro/Engineer.
If you buy it, it usually costs about $200-300.
However, PTC gives it away for free at their public workshops and seminars,
which are usually free as well.

The student edition has the full power and capbility of the comercial
edition, with a few exceptions:
* Anything plotted will have a border that reads "for educational purposes
only".
* Trail files (session recorder) are not supported (rarely used anyway).
* Files can not be passed to the commerical version or visa-versa.
* The CD must be in the drive when it runs.
