My computer crashed, but after repairing the system it startet and the
harddisk was ok. But i had to make a new user.
My problem is that the folder "DefaultUser" (c:\Documents and
Settings/DefaultUser) were set as a private folder with a password. Now i
can't get the files in the folder "DefaultUser". Can anybody help me?

Sorry for my bad english....

To my knowledge there is no tool or trick out there to accomplish this. If you could get in as your "DefaultUser" user you may be able to get your files back. What happens when you boot the PC? Does it go to the windows welcome screen and ask you to pick a user? is your "DefaultUser" listed there?

You forgot the password? I'm afraid you're screwed.

If this is XP Home, you only have to Take Ownership. Google "Take
Ownership XP" for directions.

If this is XP Pro, that may also be the case, but if you encrypted the
files, unless you backed up the account certificates, you are out of luck.
The reinstall woiuld have changed XP enough that you will never decrypt the
files without importing the old certificate.
