printing to local printer from terminal server session

S

saul

I have recently setup terminal server on w2k server
and setup a w2k pro client, I am able to share my local
drive and map it on to my terminal server session but I am
not able to figure out what are the steps that I need
to be able to print to my local printer, I have gone
through technet and all I am able to find is that it should
do it automatically, I did a search on the internet and I
found a document that said that I needed to add the
printer to the rdp queue how ?????

Thank saul

Printer redirection is automatic, provided that the server has a
native driver for the printer and recognizes the port used.
Check the EventLog on your Terminal Server to see why the printer is
not redirected. If it's a problem with the driver, you might have to
map the driver to a native one. If the printer is a USB printer which
uses a DOT4 port, you have to change a registry key on the client.

Since my prior post hasn't turned up yet (the newsservers have
problems with all the Swen postings), I'll repeat it here, so
sorry if this is a double-post.

Printer redirection is automatic, provided that there is a native
printer driver on the server and that the server recognizes your
printer port. Check the EventLog on the TS to see if the printer
driver is not recognized. If so, you'll have to map the driver to
a native one, as in:

1105, and 1106

If you are using an ASB printer on a DOT4 port, this should help:

or USB Are Not Redirected in a Remote Desktop or Terminal Services
Session
