Printing Problems in XP Home Edition

I restored my system from a backup after a hard disk failure and now
have the following printing problems:

Acrobat Distiller - Works Okay

Cannon BJC6000 - Will only work when set to "Print directly to the
printer" Will not work when set any other way. Gets an error message
"Test page failed to print. Would you like to view the print
troubleshooter? Unable to create a print job."

I have been thru the troubleshooter several times with no resolution.


Lexmark X75 - Will not print. Gets an error message "Test page
failed to print. Would you like to view the print troubleshooter?
Unable to create a print job. I tried to set the Lexmark to "Print
directly to Printer" and got the following error message: "Printer
settings could not be saved. Operation not completed".

Visage eXpert PDF - Will not reinstall.. Will not create PDF file.
Got message: "Invalid Serial
Incorrect Serial: 94**-****-****-****-
Active Serial: E***-****-****-**** (I am not including the serial
numbers)

PDF-XChange 2 DE - will not produce anything when I click on "print
test page".

Also got the following error message when trying to manually start
spooling:

Error 1075: The dependency Service does not exist or has been marked
for deletion.


I have gone thru most of the procedures advised on the newsgroup in
the last week and cannot seem to find the problem...

Any suggestions?????

Check security on the spool directory windows\system32\spool\printers. If
you changed to NTFS format on the restore the ACLS are not right.

There is no security tab on C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\PRINTERS
It is a single 16.0 kb file...

I still have the problem. I was able to get the Cannon BJ6000
(Parallel Port) printer to print by reinstalling and changing
properties to "print directly to the printer" but all other print
functions remain inoperative.
