Printing postscript

Hi,

I need to generate a postscript file from my MS Word
doc file. For this, I've installed the generic postscript
printer driver from the Adobe side. After installing,
I can select this printer in Word but the driver has
only the option to print the document in a "Printer File"
*.prn. Is this the same as the Postscript format "ps"?

If not, any ideas what is wrong and why I can't create
ps files?

Regards,
Christian

There is no specified format behind the extension. The content depends on
the printer's language. It is produced by printer driver. The PostScript is
produced when printing on a PS printer. You can install any PS printer from
the Add Printer dialog and print into a file. The output should be openable
by the Ghostscript, given .ps extension. So, no Adobe garbage is needed.

By putting quotes around "outputfile.ps", the ".prn" extension will
not be added.

I believe I answered this in comp.lang.postscript as well.
