Printing Multiple Subreports in Details

Hope someone can provide guidance on printing a report with mutiple sub
reports.

I have created three sub reports. Data is extracted from three respective
queries with separate queries names; although the queries are essentially the
same with exception of various criteron in separate, respective fields. The
three sub reports produce reports that have almost identical field names
displayed, except the last field name will be different based on the
criterion in the repective queries.

I have dragged and dropped each subreport into the details group of the
report; arranged one on top fo the other with gap inbetween each. The report
heading has an address element with an introductory paragraph.

The report footer has a concluding paragraph and signature element.

When I execute the report, I get exactly what I want on the page; except, I
have multiple outputs of the report. For example. If the first subform has
2 records, the second subform has 3 records, and the third subform has 2
records, I acquire 21 pages of the report (7 records total X 3 subforms). It
appears the detail grouping is simply looping each record multple times among
multiple, identical reports.

Question: Is there a way I can produce just one page of the report without
acquiring repetititve, multiple pages?

You help is appreciated.

You don't say much about your main report. How many records are in your main
report? Do you need any records or 1 or what? Did you set any Link
Master/Child properties?

I guess the best way I can describe it is that the three reports (which I
called sub reports and I could be using the wrong description of them as sub
reports) are tacked in the details of the main reports. Let me show it to
you below:

Report Header::

Introduction paragraph:

Detail:

Sub Report 1: A separate report based on a query.

Name Rank Class Nbr of Errors Date Recvd

Sub Report 2: A separate report based on a query.

Name Rank Class Late Status Date Reported

Sub Report 3: A separate report based on a query.

Name Rank Class Situation Date Late

Report Footer:

Closing paragraph

I created the three separate reports; open the report in details mode; then
drag and drop each of the three reports into the details grouping of the
report. There are is no parent to child link in the report (so I guess what
I have isn't really sub reports--just three separate reports).

It is obvious that Access is looping the report multiple times by multiplying
the number of total records from each of the three reports by the number of
[sub]reports.

The first page is perfect. But I have a number repeticious pages that I
don't need. I suppose I could live with this problem by just printing the
necessary page or two on top and disregard the remainder. But I'd rather
have a solution.

Thanks,

Scotty

These are subreports on a main report. Again, does your main report have a
record source? If so, it sounds like it should be removed.

Well Duane,

You hit the nail on the head. I took out an unncessary source and bingo, the
report works!

Thank you for your insight; really appreciate it.
