Printing HTML pages problems

I have a user (in a domain situation) who, when logged on, can't print HTML
pages "as they display". They end up getting a separate page for each image,
each sentence etc. This can result in a short html page printing out over
thirty pages or so.

I've tried selecting "as laid out on screen" in options, but it doesn't keep
this setting when I print.

I've logged on as another user and everything works fine. (All this
extended from not being about to printout HTML emails.)

anyone have any ideas?

The problem is obviously user settings related. Either your IE settings or
your User settings at the email site (Yahoo have user defined styling)

Check your Internet Options settings on the General tab. You will see the
Accessibility button, Colors and Fonts.

Check that you are not using a User Stylesheet (under the Accessibility
button) or that your Text size setting (View\Text Size menu) is not on the
"Largest" value.

The final solution is to print out your emails from your email package
(Outlook? or Outlook Express). Check your settings for these programs. If
need be change the format that you receive email in to plain text.

thanks for that Rob.

Unfortunately converting emails to text only is not an option as there are
pictures involved and their order is important.

I've checked the Accessibility options and nothing is selected. fonts etc
are set to the same as all other user's machines (which work fine). I've
compared all internet settings against other (working) pcs and they are the
same.

The only thing I can think that might effect it (although I don't know how)
is the user setup on the AD Server. This user is in the same groups as
others.

any further ideas?

mmm. The only other thing I can think of is your printer. Do you have
multiple printers. Is the default printer for you the same as all other
users that can print?
The older postscript printers are problematic with the newer versions of
windows.

What about print-preview? If it shows you a true rendition of the email then
it must be your printer as the preview port is just another printing device
to the computer ( with different device capibilities .. sp)

No unfortunately I've tried other printers and every one uses the same one
for email which is PCL. Print preview shows what is printing ie each image,
sentence etc on a seperate page.

Got me stumped.

I might have to remove the user and recreate the account to see if that
makes any difference.

If the Print preview also shows one image per page/ one sentance per page,
check your page settings. From Internet Explorer select the File/Page Setup
menu. Check that your top or bottom margins are not set to some rediculous
value.Another cause may be the wrong choice of paper size ie. an envelope
size instead of A4?

Thats my last guess at your problem. If this is indeed the cause then
creating a new user will achieve the same thing as the new user will receive
the default values for the page setup.

I've checked all that as well.

As the user doesn't have a user account on the PC (logging in throught the
domain) I might try logging them in on another PC to isolate the user from
the PC.

Notice that that was only a contingency being suggested in the event that
the main idea didn't work. Did you try the main idea?

FWIW I think it was a good suggestion and is something that
I have had to do myself in some cases when File Save doesn't work.
E.g. once I get the page open in a new E-mail I then can save the file
with extension .mht.

Perhaps similarly you can save to Drafts and print from that point. Etc.

Good luck

That's fine, at the moment they're cutting and pasting into Word although I
haven't suggested forwarding then printing. They get about 100 emails a day
so is really frustrated when the person sitting next to them can just click
