Printing grabage from a Hp Laserjet 6p

Hi,
We have a Hp Laserjet 6p with an external jetdirect box. This printer has
been printing fine for serveral years. Now it has started printing garbage
every so often. The problem appears to be getting worse. All users (about
15) print to a shared printer on a Win2?K Server SP4 they all print from
Win2K Pro SP4. As far as I can tell nothing has changed on any of the
workstations or the server in relation to the print drivers. Windows updates
have been applied to the workstations. Is there anything like a virus or
some other unkown that would cause a workstaion to print out garbage. Some
times half the page will print correctly then it turns to garbage.

Any ideas about what would cause this problem would be great.

Thanks
Kenneth

Perhaps:
1. the printer is starting to fail
2. the JetDirect is failing
3. the network connection is intermittent

If data gets lost from the print stream or gets corrupted, you can get
garbage printed. Usually, if packets are getting lost or currupted in the
network, they will be re-transmitted automatically, so I would suspect an
intermittent failure either in the Jet Direct or the printer.

Laserjet 6p is an "older" printer, so it may well be on its last legs.
