Printer won't work in XP

I have a HP Professional Series 2000C printer and can't get it to work right
in XP.
Sometime it will print but most of the time it won't.
I have been to HP's driver update site and they don't have a driver for XP.
Anybody have a fix for this model of printer or do I have to buy a new
printer?

If they have win2000 drivers or even winnt drivers, try those.

I have the HP2000C printer and I am pretty sure I am using the Windows 2000
drivers with it - it works fine. I have not found any software for it and XP
so I don't have the toolbox and all the other spiffy stuff. I am anxious to
see what happens when one of the cartridges runs out of ink.

I went to control panel/printers-faxes - right clicked on the HP2000c
printer - properties - advanced tab - new driver button - followed the
wizard instructions - found the HP2000C listed - highlighted it - clicked
'next' and a panel came up with this included:

"HP 2000C, Intel, Windows 2000 or XP"

So - I'm pretty sure I am using the Win2000 drivers for my printer. I do
know it was a pain in the you-know-what to get it working originally. I
think I said a few naughty words in the process.<G>

There may be some other problem, not the drivers, that are causing the
problem, loose connection?

There are printers included in XP - they will just be the generic ones
but will do straightforward printing fine. In Printers and Faxes, Add
Printer, select the port to be used, and go on to the list - HP on the
left and the 2000c appears on the right.
