Printer won't stay deleted

Hi,

I have had an Epson printer connected to the parallel port of my Windows XP
Pro machine. The printer has been using standard Windows drivers and I
haven't installed any printer-specific software. This printer was shared
across the workgroup.

Now, I have disconnected the printer. However, the printer still shows up in
the "Printers and Faxes" screen. Here is how I've tried to delete it:

1. Stop "Print and File Sharing" in TCP/IP properties. Stop sharing of the
printer (in the Printer properties). Delete the printer. When I do this, I
get a confirmation to delete; I say "Yes" and the printer is gone. However,
when I reboot, it is right back there and it also retaines its original
"Shared" setting and the "Shared As" name.

2. I used the command line utility desribed in
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314486
( Something like: rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /dl /n
<printer_name> ) and it seems to work. The printer gets deleted from the
list of "Printers and Faxes". However, once again, when I reboot, it's right
back along with the "shared" information.

As I said earlier, the printer has been disconnected and is not connected to
any computer on the workgroup.

How can I make the printer stay deleted?

Thanks,
ThickAsABrick.
