Printer stopped working

After an attempt to get a game port working without success, I found my printer had ceased to function. I put everything back the way it was without luck, so I deleteed the printer. Now I get all blank for my local printer choices in the add a printer setup wizard. LPT1 shows up as OK and working everywhere else. Why doesn't the wizard see it. Command line to print to LPT1 just hangs. IRQ 7 does not show up in the system info.

I tried uninstalling all ports and rebooted. I still cannot add a printer because Windows Wizard doesn't see the ports! What gives?
