Printer Sharing in Windows XP

S

Steve Bump

I have a home network with three PC's. Two are running
Win98, one is Windows XP. One of the Win98 has a local
printer which is shared to the network. The Win XP
machine also has a local printer (HP Deskjet 932C). On
the Win XP machine, I indicate the printer should be
shared and on that machine, it says it is shared.
However, when I go to Network Neighborhood or try to add a
network printer from either of the Win98 boxes, the
printer on the Win XP machines isn't listed. I've
unshared and shared it; no good. I've installed Win98
drivers on the Win XP box so they would be available, but
the printer still doesn't seem to be recognized by the
network. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I have the exact same problem, sharing a Lexmark inkjet
printer on the XP Pro machine & the kid's Win98 PC cannot
use it.
Any fixes?

Thanks.

I too am having the exact same situation. If you figure
something out, please pass the word. I will do likewise.
Thanks,

Verify that you can connect to shared files. If you the files shares are
not there then you have a general network issue.

If the Internet Connection Firewall is enabled you need to open the sharing
ports.
