Printer port card issue

L

Linz

Just installed a PCI printer port card (Skymaster) as I needed an extra
port.
Fitted and installed ok and shows up as LPT 1 & LPT 2 in device manager in
addition to the original LPT1.
That parts ok.

When I go to install a printer or change the current installed printer only
the original LPT 1 shows on the list. No sign of 2 or 3.

Any fix for this?

Have you checked with the tech support for the card vendor?

Your correct Ron. My mistake. Sorry.

Should have been :

Just installed a PCI printer port card (Skymaster) as I needed an extra
port.
Fitted and installed ok and shows up as LPT 2 & LPT 3 in device manager in
addition to the original LPT 1.
That parts ok.

When I go to install a printer or change the current installed printer only
the original LPT 1 shows on the list. No sign of LTP 2 or LPT 3.

Any fix for this?

Windows XP Pro

Further information since then :

This computer duel boots either XP Pro or 98SE. The card I've discovered
works
ok in 98SE but not in XP.

Tried downloading the latest driver (Sunix). No different in XP Pro but
still ok in 98SE

One post (from a Google Groups search) stated:

"Right-clicking the lpt 1 port under "device manager", under the menu
"properties" and "port settings", I unmarked "never use an interrupt"
and marked "use any interrupt assigned to the port" instead.

This solved the problem: There is no longer a yellow exclamation mark by
the port at the device manager and everything works. I can print now."

- another -

"Is it recognized during POST... in the BIOS?"

- Try this: After installing the printer, go to Control Panel, Printers,
open the Properties of the Printer, click the Ports tab, and add the ports.

Also did you try putting it in a different PCI slot, return the card and try
another of the same brand, or try a different brand card?
