Printer not seen on XP Pro when remote

Hi y'all,

I need some assistance. I have a computer running Win XP Pro SP 2 at my
office. I am using Win XP Media Center SP2 with a Lexmark E238 attached via
LPT port 1. I just recently purchased the Lexmark because my old Konica
Minolta printer died. I had no problems seeing and/or using the Konica
Minolta printer when I remotely connected to the XP Pro computer using the XP
Media. Now that I've gotten a new printer, I can no longer see, or print to
the Lexmark that is attached to the XP Media computer. I have been reading
various posts, and I have installed the driver for the Lexmark on the Win XP
Pro computer, however I still cannot see it. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!!

Hi,

Can you check event viewer if there is an error message reported that it
could not redirect the Lexmark printer on the remote session?
Does the Win XP Pro machine have the same Lexmark E238 driver installed ?

Priya,

Thank you for your assistance. I reviewed the event viewer, and there is a
terminal services error message saying, "Driver Lexmark E238 required for
printer. Lexmark E238 is unknown. Contact the administrator to install the
driver before you log in again." I did download the installer for the driver
from Lexmark's website a couple days ago, and I went through the install.
The installer prompted me to select a printer, but it couldnt find it since
it's not attached to XP Pro device. Do I need to move the files to a
specific folder on the XP Pro device? Or what should I do next? Again,
thanks for your assistance!!!

Priya,

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I actually figured it out,
and it's running perfectly now. Thanks again! Had to re-download the
installer and added a printer using the virtual port that was on there from
the old printer and just changed the settings. Probably not the correct way
to do it, but it got the job done, so thanks again!
