Printer Installation Error Message

After spending 30 minutes with HP tech support, was told
I should contact Microsoft for OS related problem during
failed installation of my newly purchased HP PSC 750
printer. Running Win2K and during HP install process, get
2 error messages:

1) "Cannot set printer de=irectory" followed by
2) "Failed to set 1 of the 2nd ComponentSet targets"

.......and setup installation ceases (on it's own).

I'm not convinced this is even a Windows problem but
the "finger pointing" has started (since HP has
to "investigate", and then get back to me). In the
meantime, do these error messages make any sense to
anyone out there??

If you don't figure it out soon, box it up and take it back while you can.
Get something else.
