Printer Error/Warning in Tray

S

Stacy Young

I have been getting an error / warner for an HP930 Printer in the tray area
that shows up every time the computer is restarted. I no longer even have
this printer attached or installed (it has been gone/removed for some time).
The printer has been physically disconnected and the software was
uninstalled through the Add/Remove programs section of Control Panel.

It seems that the error is probably fairly innocuous and not causing any
problems but I would like to permanently remove it from showing up. I can
seem to close it by simply right clicking and "Exititing" but it just shows
up the next time I restart.

I did not see anything in the System Configuration Utility - Startup
section but I probably do not know what to look for if it is there.

Any advice on how to get rid of this?

Thanks for your help.

If XP has native drivers for the printer, and XP installed those same
drivers, it may be "looking" for the printer at boot time and so forth.
Look for something to the effect of a 1284 device and or 1284 compatible
printer in device manager and expand that "+" to see if that's it.

Go to Printers and Faxes
If there is an icon there for your HP930, delete it.
Click File > Server Properties > Drivers tab
If there is a driver listed there for the HP930, delete it.

Thanks

I looked through all of Device Manager and did not see anything like
1284 device or 1284 compatable printer.
