Printer does not print full web screen image

Running Win XP Sp2

When I print a website that has text close to the right margin, my printer
cuts off the right margin and
I get a print-out of the web page with the right 2 inches missing. The
website
looks fine on the screen, but the printed page cuts off the right two
inches.

This does not happen in Word or anywhere else, only on websites.

Is there a way around this, short of printing in landscape mode?

I believe, Vista solved this problem. But, for me, that is not sufficient
reason to invest in Vista.

Thanks for any help

Hi Walter,

The problem is usually the website and not your printer. Someone
probably have designed the page using a widescreen monitor without
thinking of the other people who still use 17" monitors with 1024x768
resolution or less (over 65% of users still use that resolution or less).

I use Firefox and it has a "Shrink to Fit" option, which reduces the
size for you (I would think IE7 might have that also but I don't use it
so I don't know). You could also reduce the font size temporarily to
see if that helps (IE- View, Text size. FF- use Ctrl - ).

You don't need Vista just for that (or any other reasons really)!

Walter, there are two potential fixes to your problem.

1. Start Internet Explorer and click on File, Page Setup. Change the
margins to the minimum that your printer will print for all 4. My HP
LaserJet and my Oki Color Laser printers both will print to within .3 inch
of the edge so I set all 4 margins to 0.3 inches. This fixes most problems.

2. Many printer drivers have the ability to shrink to fit anything sent
to it. Check the printer before printing by clicking File, Print. On the
printer menu that opens after making sure your desired printer is chosen
click Preferences button. There you may have something like my HP has which
is called ZoomSmart. Hopefully there is a similar option for your printer.
Check under each of the four tabs that open under Printing Preferences. My
HP's fit to page is located under Effects.

There is another option but I don't like it. This is a patch that will
shrink pages to fit but unfortunately it overshrinks the pages and makes
them too small to read. I can't seem to find the web site for the patch
right now

The recent Epson Photo printers came with a IE add-on program the does a
great job of compressing the web page to a printer. I have successfully
used it with the OKI Laser and HP Laser as well as the two Epson inkjet
printers I have. It complains when I print with the HP or Oki that it may
not print correctly but I haven't had any problem yet.
If you go to this website
http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/...=22966687&infoType=Downloads&platform=Windows
(it is a long URL so watch wrap, and download the Web to page utility, it
may work well for you.

Forgot to add that this isn't approved for use with IE 7 yet so it won't
work with VISTA or IE7 under XP

Glad to hear that. I haven't looked at all the new options with IE7 yet. I
only have IE7 on one laptop and it works OK there but the remainder of my
systems can't have it since I use a program to access business network that
hasn't been updated to allow IE7 Causes a very nice crash on the system.

No, dont invest in Vista to solve a printer problem...
