Printer deployment to restricted users

Hi

I run a college environment network running Windows 2000 Pro clients and a Windows 2000 Server. A simple single-scope, single domain setup

Obviously all the student accounts and computers are locked down, minimal GUI's & no priviledges to make local system changes. All student account use a generic mandatory profile. Staff users have administrative rights to local computers
I need all students to be able to print to a printer in their room. They are segregated in different OU's for GP settings - or each computer can be maintained locally

I can add the printer to the local computer using an administrator account, but it doesn't appear in the printers for the students. I can't add the printers as a user even though GP is setting the computers to allow all domain users to load/unload device drivers, they aren't restricted from adding printers & they have the proper rights to the printer itself

Someone must have come accross this problem before? Or maybe its just me!...

Thanks for reading,
