Print Spooler Files

Peter

What files are necessary for the Print Spooler service on WinXP Home to
run?

A friend accidentally erased some files from the \windows and/or the
\windows\system32 folders. He thinks they have file names beginning with
"Lex" but he's not positive about that. As a result the Print Spooler
service no longer runs and can not be started.

If I can get a list of the files that support the Print Spooler service I
can either copy them from the WinXP install CD or from another PC running
WinXP home.

Thanks.

lex stuff would be lexmark. They are not required unless you installed some
Lexmark software that sets the spooler as dependent upon the Lexmark
binaries.

XP files you must have for the spooler service

localspl.dll
spoolss.dll
spoolsv.exe
win32spl.dll
winspool.drv
tcpmon.dll
tcpmib.dll

other files for UI stuff
printui.dll
localmonui.dll
tcpmonui.dll

If you have lexmark stuff you will need to confirm with lexmark or reinstall
the lexmark software to return them to where ever they think they need to
be.
