print preferences in access

I set my print preferences in control panel / printers. IE Quality =
Fastdraft and Color = Print in Greyscale. When printing a report in Access
I always have to either adjust the Quality or Colour in preferences. I use
access for invoicing and with each request to print I must go to preferences
to adjust the color. Sometimes the Quality must be adjusted to fastdraft as
well. It seems that the info as set within the printer driver preferences
are not making it all the way into access.

Has anyone else heard of this? Is there a fix or am I doing something wrong?

I presume your invoices are an Access report, in which case the printer
settings should be saved with the report.

Do you perchance use a technique which replaces an Access front-end mdb with
a new copy every time someone runs it? This is quite a common thing to do,
because it avoids front-end bloat and ensures that each user always has the
latest copy. However, one disadvantage is that the printer settings are
lost each time.

Oh, and another thought: here's a reply I made to a question in another
group:

In Page Setup for the report, you need to change from "Default Printer" to
"Use Specific Printer". This change is not permanently made if you merely
choose a different printer in the Print dialog box: to make it stick, you
need to go into Page Setup and make the change explicitly.

If the printer is reverting to the default printer because you haven't done
the above, it's quite possible that you will also lose formatting settings
becuase the default printer doesn't support them.
