Print job won't delete from print que

Using Windows XP home edition and several jobs got backed
up in the print queue. Was able to delete most of them,
but the first one in the queue will not go away.
Rebooting does not work. I can send a test page to the
printer, but that prints , but nothing else gets past the
queue.

have you tried stopping the print spooler and then
restarting it? (control panel/services/print spooler in
list - click stop then start)
