Select the calendar, then click on Format | Borders and Shading |
Borders | click on a border line style | OK.

thanks for replies! added a border, still no grid lines viewed in the print
preview. it seems i must add a table (as per link from suzanne). my old word
97 program's calendar wizard shows lines on their calendar's templates, word
2002 does not. is it possible to copy the calendar wizard file from word 97,
rename it calendar-97, & paste it into the word 2002 program's
templates-other documents? thank you, len kiesling

As has been explained, the calendars are made using tables. Unless the table
cells have borders they will not print. Gridlines are something entirely
different and are not supposed to print. Select the table (table > select >
table) then format > borders and shading. Set a suitable line thickness and
apply it to *all* sides of the cells.

thanks for reply! solved! here's the steps i completed:
1) create a calendar using the calendar wizard.
2) show the grid lines (under table)
3) click inside one of the cells.
4) select all (under edit)
5) go to borders & shading (under format)
6) select grid & apply to table
7) printed fine! all table lines printed!
thanks again, len kiesling
