print empty placeholders

Hello

I have a lot of slides with a text placeholder and a picture placeholder. While the text is already there, most of the picture placeholders are still empty. This means that in a presentation and printout, the palceholders will not be shown. However, i want the people who will review the presentation (on screen and print-out) can see the picture placeholders, so they know a picture will be added to that slide

Is there an easy way to temporarily display empty placeholders (other than selecting each placeholder (about 40 of them) and setting a border line color).

thank

Ward,

Not that I know of.

Oooh! I just tested it (version 2003). Go to View| Master| Slide Master. Put
a border on the box that says: Click to edit Master text styles. Then when
you go back to the slides, the placeholder objects have the same lines/
borders. In my version I can change slides to any layout and the border
sticks. Now while I haven't printed one ( the printer is up stairs), they do
appear in print preview. So, have a look and please let us know how you get
on!

Thanks for your answer. The borders do get printed, so you should need to walk upstairs to check :)

However, it is not a solution for me, because beside the empty picture placeholders having a border (what is what i want), the text boxes (with text in it) on the slide also have a border. This is of course looks stupid, because they won't be there in the final presentation.

I only want borders around *empty* placeholders. But i really doubt if it can be done by one single click

In Master View, the slide layout pane is disabled, so i can not select the slide layout with a text AND picture placeholder and then only change the border of the picture placeholder

Ward,
Are you by chance using PPT 2002 or 2003? If so, set up two masters. One for
the text slides (no border on the placeholder) and one for the picture
slides (border on the placeholders). When you are all done with
presentation creation, select the first master and do an apply all.

Will that do it for you?

Thanks Kathy

I'm using ppt 2003, so your suggestion is a nice idea. However, i have text and pictures on the same slide
As well, i'm already using 5 master slides

Anyway, there's not much time left, so I'll just set the borders manually, and remove them while i add the images. You don't need to look further into it

Hello,

If none of the suggestions provided give you the functionality that you
were looking for or, if you (or anyone else reading this message) have
suggestions for how and why you think PowerPoint should provide this
functionality (or make it easier), don't forget to send your feedback (in
YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

It's VERY important that, for EACH wish, you describe in detail, WHY it is
important TO YOU that your product suggestion be implemented. A good wish
submssion includes WHAT scenario, work-flow, or end-result is blocked by
not having a specific feature, HOW MUCH time and effort ($$$) is spent
working around a specific limitation of the current product, etc. Remember
that Microsoft receives THOUSANDS of product suggestions every day and we
read each one but, in any given product development cycle, there are ONLY
sufficient resources to address the ones that are MOST IMPORTANT to our
customers so take the extra time to state your case as CLEARLY and
COMPLETELY as possible so that we can FEEL YOUR PAIN.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
