Pri Master: Not installed (CMOS Setup)

I know this is an XP group, but this problem is universal
to any Windows version. A lot more people are here than in
the WIN 98 group, so this will increase my chances of
getting help. I'm trying to help a friend who completely
messed up a computer. To make a long story short, he put a
second hard drive into the computer. The HD came from a
computer that would not boot. He wanted to try to salvage
some files from the HD. Both HD's have WIN98 on them. When
he started the computer it would not boot. After removing
the second HD it still would not boot. When you try to
boot it says: Boot Failure insert BOOT diskette in A: I
went into setup mode and at the Standard CMOS setup screen
it says: Pri Master: Not Installed. The original HD was
not tampered with and it did work previously. Any
suggestions,please?

Make sure the IDE cables are in properly. If you have
knocked them loose from either end it will not detect it.
Also make sure the Power cables are in also. If the drive
wasn't messed with at all, then that is the most likely
culprit.
