Prevent changes made by VBA scripts from triggering "ON CHANGE" scripts

I have a series of macros that have been converted to VBA
scripts in Access 97. A handful of the scripts are
activated by clicking command buttons, but some are
triggered with "ON CHANGE." Is there a way to prevent
other scripts from executing while a particular script
executes?

I'm sure a skilled programmer could easily structure
his/her scripts to avoid this conflict, but due to a very
limited VBA knowledge, I'm looking for a simple work-
around. Thanks in advance.
