Prevent Auto-Connection for VPN Connections

Hi,

I'm sorry if this question has been asked before. I have tried my best to
search the KB and the newsgroup but have not found a solution to this issue.

I have set up a VPN connection using Windows New Network Connection wizard
for use on my laptop when I'm outside using an open wifi hotspot. However, I
do not use the VPN connection when I'm in my office.

The annoyance comes when I reach an unresolved host name when I'm using the
Internet without the VPN. A dialog would pop up asking me if I want to
connect to the VPN. I would normally just click Cancel. It becomes really
annoying when it pops up every time an unresolved host is reached. It doesn't
help by connecting to the VPN and also it doesn't help by ignoring the dialog
as the internet connection would be stopped without clicking Connect/Cancel.

Is there a straight-forward way to disable the auto-connect feature of VPN
connections?

If you go into Internet Explorer | Tools | Internet Options | Connections
do you have "Never Dial a Connection" selected?
