Preparing network connections

When I came to work this morning, my computer had been restarted, presumably
by a network update. It was sitting at the "preparing network connections"
screen for several hours. I turned it off and back on to no avail. Any ideas
on how I can get back into my desktop? This is a military network and they
update and restart at will without any notification of what they plan to do
or what they did. And of course, they deny that what they did could have
caused the problem.

Thank you

Hi-

You could try powering down, unplugging the LAN cable, and booting up to the
logon window and then plug the LAN cable back in. If that doesn't work,
repeat the steps and login WITHOUT the LAN cable to see if you can get in
with cached credentials.

Either way, your IT Support should dispatch a tech to your desk.

If this is a mil nitwork, don't even mess with it. Since they can't do
remote maint. now, get a tech out to your desk. The fines and paperwork for
messing with a military computer are just not worth it.
