Prelease Version of Remote Desktop Connection has expired.

I heavily rely on Remoted Desktops from the Adminpak to mage the many servers
I have. Just this week I am not able to remote to the servers from the
Remote Desktops mmc. It pops up the following: "The pre-release version of
Remote Desktop Connection has expired. To download the full version of
Remote Desktop Connection. go to Windows Update or contact your system
Administrator."

I am running XP SP3. v. 3244...which I suspect is the problem. The version
of Remote Desktops I am running is 5.2.3790.1830.

Since I rely so much on having 20 conncetions open up simultaneously, I am
desperate to get this working again.

There is nothing ni Event Viewer.

Happened inexplicably to me today. I manage a Windows 2003 Server farm from
my remote XP Pro SP 3 "True Microsoft" system. This is a disasterous error
by Microsoft.

One cannot install the latest version from microsoft/server as you get the
message "Your current version is later than the one you are trying to
install". You cannot install MSRDPCLI.EXE as you get the message "You
already have a version in
start/assessories".

Adminpak for Windows 2003 and Windows 2003 R2 exhibits same error, even with
uninstall and reinstall.

Based on past experience, I expect either "No response" from Microsoft, or
some meaningless gibberish. Earth to Microsoft: You need to correct this
problem.

So downloading from Micrsoft's site to get Remote Desktop did not help?
Did you try the download?

SP-3 is not released. You chose to install betaware so you chose to be
affected by its problems. Do not test betaware on critical or
production systems. Test betaware on a test platform.

What happens when you use a non-beta platform, like Windows XP SP-2, to
use Remote Desktop to manage your servers? Will the older non-beta
version from Microsoft's download site overwrite (install over) the beta
version that you now have?

Use a non-beta, non-test platform for critial or production platforms.
Is there something critical to your workload that absolutely demands
that you use the betaware? If so, perhaps the release interval for the
betaware has expired and now you have to install the next "release
candidate".

The application did not crash. It said that it would not perform
anymore.

SP3 , being beta , is and has ( from what I`ve read on the newsgroups
) screwed up a few systems .

Thanks to VanguardLH. Rolling back to SP 2 appears to have resolved the issue.

After I install SP 3 on my computer then when I try to use remote
desktop then shows "The pre-release version of
Remote Desktop Connection has expired. To download the full version of
Remote Desktop Connection. go to Windows Update or contact your system
Administrator."

I went to Microsoft website but can't find any full version Remote
Desktop for SP 3.

Please let me know how to handle

Microsoft has release Remote Desktop 6 around the time SP2 was
released. This seems to be the "latest" version of Remote Desktop for
Windows XP. It also appears to be "delivered" with SP3.
