PPT presentation slide is blacked out except hyperlinks

Using PPT 2003. I have a presentation with text hyperlinks, button links and
some VBA script (mostly 2 or 3 steps per sub). When I view the show, often a
slide will show up black except hyperlinked text will be visible. Buttons
don't show. It is not the same slide everytime. It does this both with the
PPT and the PP slide show files. It did it one time (at least) from a VBA
sub. I added a line of script to goto the specified slide twice and it
hasn't happened again on that slide. That could be coincidence. Even if it
is a backdoor solution, it only works when I have a sub. This is happening
on a simple next-slide button as well. Oh, I don't have any video in my
presentation.

Any ideas as to what is causing this and a solution?

I am creating a stand-alone training kiosk and an unexpected black screen
will freak out some of the people that will be using the kiosk.

Thanks,

Hi Shep

Not sure if this will help but I used to have an issue with big black bits
on screen (particularly if I right clicked, or went to another file and
returned to original presentation) and playing with this helped:
How to set graphics hardware acceleration back

There is also a tick box in slide show -> set up show dialogue that may
help.

Thank you Lucy Thomson. I followed the instructions at the linked site to
set the graphics hardware accelerator back and so far it seems to be working.
It is hard to know for sure since I am not aware of a set of actions that
would consistently produce the problem. I am keeping my fingers crossed and
smiling in the mean time.

I am baaack. I set the graphics hardware accelerator back and selected the
tick box in setup show. The hoped for fix did not last long. I have been
able to determine that my blackout problem happens to the target slide of the
first hyperlink after I start presentation mode. It doesn't matter if I
start from the beginning of the presentation or anywhere else in the slide
count. It does not happen all the time, but often enough to be a problem.
Any ideas either for a solution or for where I should turn next for a
solution?
Thanks, Shep

Hmmm. Make sure you untick the option in setup show menu rather than tick
it. Other than that I'm not sure. Round tripping might be worth a go if it
only happens on the one presentation:
HTML "Round-tripping" to repair corruption

Other than that, I'm out of ideas, sorry :-(
